Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : software to monitor users?
Does any one know of any software or utilities I can use to monitor my users here on the LAN? I am trying to figure out who is using up all the bandwidth. I believe someone is downloading video or MP3's and causing the whole network to come to a crawl.
Any help would be appreciated.

Whats your OS Apex? NT's Network monitor(full version) allows you to monitor specific comps on your LAN. There be others Im sure.

The network is mostly made up of NT Server and NT Workstation. There are a few Windows 98/95 boxes too. What do you mean by full version of network monitor. Is it something I have to download or buy?
Thanks

Try a firewall. You can log all Internet traffic or stop access entirely.
the FULL version of network monitor/performance monitor only comes with Win NT server and the resource kits or Win2K advanced server. Normal winNT can only look at data sent directly too it, but the full version can look at any data on the network.
How are you users connected to the internet, is it by a hardware or software router..if its software then checking whos using the bandwidth is easy...if its hardware its a bit more tricky, but still possible.
