I heard from many reviews that Delta cdroms are very loud. Any truth to this? I'm looking at the 48x version.

Most of the 48X's I've heard are noisy. Generic, name-brand, whatever, it's noisy. I think it has to run its fan really fast because it's going so much faster.

Josh

I have a Digital Research 45x (generic) and it is very noisy. to the point that I will not use it to play audio CD. I use CD/RW for that. Other than the noise, it works fine. But it is annoying.

What you need is an Artec Super 50X drive.
This drive will give you optimal preformance at a low cost. This drive is ultra quiet.

No noise at all when playing audio cds... And VERY quiet with anything else.

I'd reccomend this drive to ANYONE. It is absolutely awesome. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I think you can get more info on it at http://www.artecusa.com.

I have a 48x cd-rom and it's very noisy, sometimes you think that the computer would take off from the ground. It's just like a little turbine.

I had a noisy mitsumi drive ... but there's a quick fix for that noise problem. overclock your processor to justify adding a few more case fans ... you'll never have to worry about hearing that cdrom again.

worked for me!
