I need to get a new backup software package for several NT 4.0 Servers and am looking for some guidance. I am very happy with Cheyenne Software's ARCSERVE software for Netware (even if Cheyenne was acquired by Computer Associates *SOB SOB*)

Seagate's Backup Exec for NT 4.0 has been a real dog for us with a failure rate (during the write process) that is way too high.

Any advice on these products or any others would be most graciously accepted.

I run ARCSERVE, yes I had some problems with it but once you set it up properly works like a charm.

My experience with Arcserve 6.1 for Netware is that if has good writes about 29/30 of the time. Backup Exec has successful writes about 20/30 of the time.

GOETHE: do you have a like level of success with your Arcserve for NT writes?

<EDIT>
By write errors I mean that the server software indicates that there was an error and the backup was never completed. This does not involve even checking to see if the backup media was bad.
