Loading Homepage ? - Somtimes!

Greetings Gurus!

I'll try to give as much info as possible without blabbin' on.

While on the internet, accessing my homepage, sometimes page will appear, sometimes the 'page can't be found' error appears. Sometimes the page will load but .jpg's won't. I get the little red x where the photo should be. If I refresh it might fix it. Refresh again and it's gone again.
Problem not limited to me. Some users of the same ISP use E-Bay and their photos are on the same server as my homepage. They say sometimes the photos will load, somtimes not.
The server is UNIX, the operating systems are Windows 98, various browsers, stuff was put on the server with WS_FTP.
What would cause a page to act like this?

The server isn't spitting out the info fast enough and your browser is timing out. You could either suggest your ISP toss the Nintendo and get a real server or change ISPs http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

It is also possible that your ISPs router is dropping packets. Whichever it turns out to be, it's your ISP that is at fault.

I don't think the browser is timing out. What does load, load quickly, even if it is the 'can't find' screen.
Not dropping packets either, can ping and get 100% packet send and receive.

Just as an after thought, how fast should a server be?

Somethings wacky there, snapped right up first time, couldnt go back 2nd time...got half and half 3rd time...???

Another thing... since windows caches all webpages and if it has problems retreving pics from temporary internet folder it will not try to reload it from the server. So you might want to check your pics, there could be something wrong with them.
