Over 'here' in the UK we are just getting ADSL installations underway - sort of, it depends where you live!

Anyway, are there any particular installation issues that anyone knows about?

The standard ones seem to be; distance from the exchange; quality and/or age of the installed copper; 'load coils' in circuit and overhead vs underground delivery.

Are there any more? Are there better DSL modems than others?

Thanks in advance,

Symes.

Hi,

Delays to what, delivery of the service or response on the 'net?

I hope it's not response, after all the hype from the providers about video on demand, instant downloads (including MP3 in seconds...)

Oh well, at least waiting is something us Brits are well practised at! :-)

Hi. Delays in delivery of service. Once installed dsl is great and anything slower will become unbearable. However isps and phone co's aren't the best at coordinating things after availability of service in my area was confirmed it took at least 2-3 months before it was up and running. Check out www.dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com) for tons of info.
