Anyone got any suggestions on using an LPT connection to connect an old laptop running Windows 3.1 to a computer using 95 or 98? Thanks.

Thanks. hursty 06-28-2000, 12:43 PM Years ago I used a piece of software called LapLink to connect my laptop to my desktop. The program could run in DOS, therefore you may be able transfer files suing this software via DOS mode on both machines. The software used an LPT linkup cable, and provided a two way conncection. You can try looking on the internet for it, but I haven't see it for years. jman01pa 06-28-2000, 07:42 PM laplink would work great but finding a source might be tough. How about hooking a zip drive up and copying data. If it is a laptop with 3.1 it probably dont have over a 400 mb drive anyway. Boot the laptop to dos and set it up as the server (Interlink still needs to be run from config.sys, but hit "intersvr" at the sommand prompt) and run the other machine as the client. You won't be able to do anything from the laptop, and you won't be able to share any FAT32 drives over it (W3.11 not affected by that though) or CD drives on the laptop, but I doubt that would be an issue. EDIT I should point out that Interlink is used with either a serial null modem cable or an "interlink" parallel cable. Neither are standard extension cables.
