Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : NT Server to 95/98 Clients: Old Proxy Server Keeps Coming Back

Have been fighting with this for a while now.

When this network was first set up, it had a proxy server at A.B.C.D.

That proxy server address has since changed to W.X.Y.Z.

However, whenever I go around and delete client user profiles, the old Proxy server address comes back. My question is... from Where?!?!

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Default profile.

Thanks for the tip. Will review and get back to you.

You know... I haven't checked that. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Okay, then....

I've checked the NT Server and the only place a "Default User" profile exists in in the NT Server Local User directory (C:\WinNT\Profiles\). The Netlogon share has no "Default User" directory or USER.DAT file (My clients are all Win 9X; zero NT clients). Obviously I need to get one in there, but where else might this old proxy server setting be coming from? Perhaps a registry setting on the client machines that underlies a profile? One that is superceded when a profile exists, but only arises to make its own settings known in absence of an overriding user profile?

Any thoughts appreciated,

Dave

Cancel the login prompt when logging into one of the 9x machines, then set the proxy server settings. Another tact might be to disable multiple user profiles on the client machines (I'm kind of assuming you have it turned on here) and set the proxy settings, then turn it back on.
