I came accross an old Tandy RGB Color monitor (model CM-5).

I don't know much about RGB monitors, I have found that the plug is different (has 8 pins).

I don't know if I need a different video card to run this, or is there an adapter?

I would like to use this on a Win 3.11 system for my kids, will it work?

only if you have a old isa video card. some of them even had 9 pins on them. I have some I use to check out old trade in monitors ect.

they will only give you either 16 or ??? colors. provides 320 by 225 display .it is most likely a 1993 ega or cga monitor. I'll do some looking for you on it and get back to you.

Thanks Gene, don't know if this will help you, but the model number on the back of the monitor says 25-1023C. It looks like it may indeed be a 9 pin, with one pin missing.

The video card I have in this 486DX2-80 system is a Trident Ver VL4.6LH with a 93 copyright.

Before the standard for vga was an HD15 connector there were several others including a 9 pin standard. I have 2 older monitors (ibm ps/1 and NEC Multisync2) that use this that work fine with 9-15 adapters.
