Ok, let me see if i can explain this good. Where i work we are using a Novell 4.11 server as our primary surver but using winNT and exchange as our mail server. Most of the workstation PCs are using win95c and outlook 2K for reading mail. All other office aplications on the workstations are 97. Here is the reacuring problem. The workstations use NWClient to sighn on to the main server, then when the user wants to use outlook they just open outlook and do not have to put in a password because their NWClient Login and password are the same as the outlook and they are synced on the server. About ever two weeks, 3 or 4 workstations will ask for a user name and password when opening outlook. the day before everything was fine and the only thing that has changed is that the user had shut down the PC the night before. Everything appears normal on the exchange server but sometimes some odd info will show up in outlook under the properties window. Like a different workgroup is showing or login name. The problem PCs are using win95c, and are pretty new PCs. to solve the problem, three things have worked. First, the user password on exchange is re-typed and saved. If that does not work, then outlook will usually have to be re-installed. If that does not work then the exchange server is rebooted and that has worked evertime so far.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, or have had the same or similar problem? We have asked the experts at the local computerland and they dont know.
thank you for any input.
