Okay, I reformatted and reloaded Doze. Now, I'm back to the lower version of live ware for my SB Live Value. So, I go to soundblaster.com to get the "latest" version.

Now, every time Doze loads, there's a little update "globe" in my systray. Every now and then by right clicking on it, it'll offer to do an update. But the majority of the time the only option is exit, which I promptly select!

I go to the registry, and msconfig. Nothing there. Nothing in the startup group under programs.

Where can I disable this? I mean, all I have to do is exit it, but I don't like things that start up on their own, and I have to manually disable.

Thanks for any help here...

Task Guide\Upgrade Tray.exe, that was the culprit. Thanks oblivion, you were right on time.

Funny, that make so much sense, I guess I was too lazy to look there myself.

Thanks again...

No probs........I just did a very minimul install of the SBlive.....it was only 26 megs as opposed to 120........you can even do a 5 meg install of just the drivers if you do not want all the bloat

No problem, you can disable it from taskbar by clicking on the little box next to the lightbulb in live tasks, there you can tick or untick monitor for live news! that should do it

I had the same problem...........I had to poke around in the folder it installed to for awhile, until I found the culprit.........I then deleted it and never looked back.....

this may be the folder it is in

C:\Program Files\Creative\Launcher\Group\Live!Task

good luck
