Once my cd-roms age a bit, they start collecting dust, even though they are used a lot.

In the majority of cases, I find, this is what causes skipping.

Have it cleaned, or buy a cleaning cd that runs a brush over the laser lens.

Hope this helps. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

or go out and buy as ASUS drive that will never give any problems while still being cheap!

Most of the time here, we try to find solutions to a specific problem, before just saying "go out and buy a new one."

steps to help you.
1. take apart cd-rom
2. clean lazer eye with a vcr cleaning head spray ect. some times the heads get out of line. you can adjust them if you know how to
3. put back together
4. incert cd. if still have the same problem.
5. either send to me or take out and shoot with a 12 guage shotgun. I'll shoot it.
6. buy another one than.

I have had this mitsumi 32 speed cd rom drive since I got my system and it has ALWAYS skipped when playing audio tracks from regular cd's and games. I have put up with it for so long and have been told it was a defect in the actual line of 32x drives. Is this true???? Can I manually fix the problem??? Whats the deal????
