I'm not to keen on third party utilities, such as Norton's for NT http://www.symantec.com/nu/fs_nunt.html but DisKeeper http://www.execsoft.com/ from Executive Software is a must.

An indispensable link is http://www.jsiinc.com/reghack.htm

NT pretty much has it all. Tweaking can be done on your own from info at the link just mentioned and there are several good ones found here. http://www.regedit.com/

Microsoft's knowledge base is much more valuable to NT than it is for Win95/98. So use them -read and read. http://support.microsoft.com/support/search/c.asp?

Check your hardware against the HCL. http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/hcl/

Finally use MS's technical support by phone. The tech's there never give up. They really enjoy what they do -they're **** good!

Almost forgot to give this final link. Good to browse thru before you load. It's from MS's KBase. http://support.microsoft.com/support/ntworkstation/serviceware/ntw40/default.asp
