Win2k Networking

I've installed win 2k on my laptop and on my desktop I have 98se and both computers work fine the way they are configured, before I put win 2k on my laptop I had win 98se and they networked fine through microsoft file and print sharing. After I setup win 2k on my laptop and share the drive I can find it from the desktop (98se) machine but when I try to browse it it gives me a password screen and I never set one up. All the devices are configured correctly and I'm very good at networking pcs I've done it many times can you please help me with this problem.
