I just read an article from ZDnet explaining how AMD is going to release the thunderbird. Very few processors will be release that support the Slot A mobo. The rest of them are made for socket A. I'm upset, big time. I just bought a k7m and I'm please with it. I thought Athlons were so young for thier design and I could upgrade just the processor till 2 ghz. Past articles fooled me into thinking that was possible too, saying that Athlon will mainly used slot A anyway. **** them all. Are Athlon Slot A is done for. I just have a question. If I upgrade to a T-bird and get a slocket A mobo, will I be good for upgrades for at least two years of future athlon upgrade. I built my athlon system 2 months ago and I just realized I can kiss my upgrading erection goodbye. Anybody have any thoughts or info, on what's going to happen and what I should do?

Relax, I doubt AMD is going to be that stupid. Imagine the money they would stand to lose.
There will most likely be a Slot-A Slotkit developed; the same thing happened with Intel and Socket 370.
The archetectures aren't that different between Athlons and T-Birds. Just the packaging format.
