What switch should I get?

I have been looking for a 8 port switch for my network and I am not sure what to get? I don't know anything about switches or hubs. If someone could direct me to a good name brand switch and help me on finding out what kind of specs. am I looking for? All I know is I want one that is 10/100.

Really any switch by D-link, Netgear, or Link sys should work. Just make sure that it is 10/100. I think it is only a 5 port, but best buy has a pretty sweey deal with a 5 port switch, two 100 base t nics and two cables for $100.

Thanks, but I have nics and all I need is tha switch. Are there any online places where I can get these brands for a low price? And the switch I need must be a 8 port. Thanks for the info.

I don't know about being the cheapest, but 90% of the computer stuff I buy online is from www.mwave.com (http://www.mwave.com) They offer fast and reliable service and most importantly, reasonable shipping. You can beat their prices by a few bucks at other places, but if you want one stop shopping I think they are the best. You might check www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) beware of inflated shipping though.


btw: I bought and installed two 5 port Linksys switches today for work and I am very pleased with them.
