List what I need 4 a two-computer network

I have a 486 based computer and a Pentium 200MMX SS7 mobo. What do i need (in list format) for a 2 PC network (they're both in the same room, less then 2 ft. from each other).

I appreciate any input

2 NIC's with RJ45 connectors (most common)
1 4 foot cat5 cross-over cable.

He needs two nics in the server if he connects to internet with dsl or cable, but only one if using a 56k modem.

If you plan on adding PC's to your network, you may want to consider getting a hub or switch. You don't need them now, but the crossover cable does limit expansion. Of course, you can always buy the hub later. It really depends on your future plans.
