I'm looking to buy a Athlon system and want to know which motherboards Gateway uses. Do any use the 133MHz chip set?

I went to Gateway the other day and all their Athlons were loaded with 100 Mhz RAM and I was quite disappointed in their performance. It's gona take alot to get me off my computer
$ 3400 for a 1 Gig machine, plus tax... Give me a break http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Are you planning on buying a Gateway puter? I believe that the SD-11 is a pretty good mobo, and I've also heard to stay away from the microstar mobo... Try looking into the SD-11. Also, why not look into AMD's website? they may have some good suggestions.

And you're right, pickle, Gateway does have exorbitant prices even for the services that they offer. I know all to well. My wife persuaded me into buying a system from them.

The FIC SD-11 is one BIG board, as big as mini tower. It is quite stable in the newer versions, but is very resistant to overclocking. the Asus K7 is a great stable board as well.

I am thinking about Gateway just because I don't want to build my own, being a newbie. I have heard of compatibility problems with GeForce256 unless you get a motherboard that has the newer chipset, so I'm looking for advice on that path.
Thanks.
