Grrr... I'm trying to get the bloody Windows 98 SE Internet Connection Sharing working and it's being a pain in the ***. I install the ICS jsut fine and all, and reboot. Then set up the stuff on my second computer properly. It's all good. But it won't work. Can somebody please tell me what protocals I have to have installed?? As Clients I have the:
dial up adapter
Network card
ICS

Then I have a giant list of Protocals installed. 3 for ICS, two for the NIC and 2 for the DU.

The network works just fine too.

gggrrr... f*cking MS sh**...

The great part is when this didn't work I installed Sygate 3.1 to use that instead.. well that was a GIANT waste of money considering I install it and all I get is an Illegal Operation message. It crashes the second windows starts.

I can't lend any direct experience - I plan on trying to set it up myself this weekend, but I have been reading about setting ICS up. This link to M$oft knowledge base http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q234/8/14.asp has a description of ICS and how to set it up as well as links to 6 or 7 other articles in the KB that troubleshoot various problems.

Hope this helps

I installed my network the first time, no problems, using Windows 98 SE with the help of http://www.homepclan.com/.

Just remeber, on client machines, you have to set the IP{ address to obtain from DHCP. It's stupid, but for some reason M$ makes you do it.
