Can you boot into Safe Mode and run System File Checker? If you can isolate a corrupted file, then SFC can restore it to a working file.

If so, select 'Extract one file from installation disk' to restore the original system file, select the file to extract and then click Start.

Ensure the path to 'Restore from:' is correct and clik OK

In the 'Backup File' dialog box, either accept the default or change the path. If the dialog box appears explaining the folder does not exist, clik 'Yes'.

I'm not sure if this works in Safe Mode. And you say you have many files corrupted in which case this would seem to take forever.

If you had Norton Disk Doctor, it would fix those files there - maybe.

So perhaps there is a better way someone?

Just a thought...

Have you checked to see if, during your transfer, you may have picked up a nasty little virus?

I remember my first experience with the little buggers. I contracted "Stealth Boot B" and like to have never whipped it!

Hope it helps...Dreadnaught
