I have a p150 80mb ram 2.1gb H/D and I have a problem with the winmodem a GC336PCT.
When I try to dialup the internet I get this error message 'the modem is being used by another Dialup networking connection or another program. Disconnect the other connection or close the program and then try again'
I have tried everything even to formating the H/D again and reinstalling win95 but I still get this message.
Please can someone advise on this

Himem, what applications (programs) did you install after reinstalling Win95?

Ugotdave.
The only programs I have installed after installing win95 is the network requirements for dial up. ie 'Client for Mircosoft networks' 'Dialup Adapter' 'TCP/IP'
These seem to be the problem but I don't know how to over come.
I have been following 'installing and coping with Dialup Networking' from www.annoyances.org/win95/dun.html (http://www.annoyances.org/win95/dun.html)
Hope that helps

try moving that modem to another com port. Also, check ctrl-alt-delete and shut down rnaap if it is running. Another ap, like a fax or other telephony app, may be trying to grab your modems' com port to listen for incoming calls. Good luck ....

if your modem is on com one and you have a serial mouse, that could be causing it too ...
