Has anyone seen the History Channel's WWII programs lately? The footage from WWII has been colorized. It is simply amazing to see the same footage in color, looks like it was shot in the '60's. I highly recommend it, As always, the stories of WWII bring a tear to my eye, but the impact of color leaves me speachless. You must check it out.

I have it on now, it is amazing. The History Channel has never done me wrong. That channel, The Learning Channel, Discovery, and ESPN satisfy all my viewing needs 24/7.

Yep-been watching too. I thought they were actual color films and not colorized. The color makes it seem as though it happened a lot less than 50+ years ago.
p.s. My favorite is the crocodile hunter on Animal Planet. G-day. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Great stuff. We always think of WW2 as being fought in black and white.
Some of the footage has shown up in the past. John Ford shot some color for the navy out in the Pacific and the Germans were involved in color because it represented a "new" and "progressive" medium.
I know a bunch of very serious aircraft and vehicle model builders - these guys will spend weeks detailing the inside of the front wheel well on a 3" long FW-190. Its very funny to me how these guys will look at the color films and claim that the colors are "wrong" because the colors don't match what they - the modelers - think should be correct. I remember from my military days that having the "right" color of paint to put on something was the least of our worries and I'm sure that things weren't any different when the Russians were coming over the wire.
Anyway the shows have been super.
