network card on linux

hi,

i would like to connect my linux box to several win98 pc..

i m using redhat 6 , and edimax (www.edimax.com)
network card -Macronix MX987xx Family Fast Ethernet Adapter..

During the linux installation, it successfully found the networkcard as 'Tulip'

After all, when i login, the card doesn't 'blink' ?

Are the network connected ? Or doesn't support this card ?

Why do you want it to blink when you logon? It shouldn't need to.

What do you want to use the network for? We need more information!

For starters, what TCP/IP configuration are you using on the windows and linux machines. And what networking equipment?

You will first need to make sure that your nic is et up properly and that you can ping your win98 machines and vice versa. You will then have to set up samba to effectively network the two.
