How fast are your Napster downloads?

1K-150K but I have stopped using Napster because of the BS surrounding their service.

Best I've seen is around 75K/sec. But usually it's more like 3k to 15k/sec. If it's any slower than that I'll just stop it.

Try some of the yellows and reds, you will get some people on t1's that dont like to be bothered. I can usually find some that will do 60 k or so. But with the FBI coming down on Napster, I am almost afraid to use it anymore.

I'm usually in the 20-50k/s range. I've seen 200+.

I usually average 30kps. Once I actually got over 150! No more Napster for me either, too much "gray" area concerning MP3's :/ Too bad...I have lots of stuff on tape (ugh, shows how old I am http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif ) and got most of it in MP3 now. Oh well...

I've hit 160+ on occassion. Usually I can download them faster than I can listen to them - can't really ask for more than that...

by the way what do the red, green and yellow buttons mean in napster

ytay, I don't know about you but I have a family to support and do not care to go through any of the possible legal BS!
I have already had enough self inflicted legal problems in my younger days and do not care to have to go through any at this point in my life.
So If you want any of the possible legal complications in your life then by all means have fun.
What really gets me about this whole thing is I have the albums for what I have downloaded and as far as I am concerned it is legal for me to download songs to save time. I have 2 or 3gigs of MP3's thanks to Napster and could still download more but I choose not to until this is resolved. I feel that in the end Napster will survive but will end up being modified somehow to satisfy the money hungry music industry. I really don't need NApster anyway since there are many other resources on the web to download full albums of mp3's.

And I for one do not care for being called a p****! I bet you would not call any of us that to our face!

If you want to know what the red yellow and green buttons stand for then think aboutit,duh.

Well, at least I know that slowness is a price to pay, and not just my connection. As far as the legal stuff, I'm not going to worry about it. My logic is along the lines of wondering how in the hell Metallica is going to sue 335,000 people. Not that it couldn't happen. But it is Napster that is being sued, not the users, yet....

I like to hit those 14.4 (yellow buttons)modem guys on napster. I'd say 99% of those I hit turn out to be highspeed downloads. I have got up to 100k/sec and dump anything under 20k/sec...I'm just too impatient. Unless it's a song I can't get from a better speed then I'll wait for a lower than 20k/sec but thats rare. As far as them getting us I'm not too worried, I don't go there that much.

Hmm...cool stuff here,
As far download speeds are concerned I've hit
as high as 83Kb/s. Of course Metallica mp3's are extra anal and go a bit slower, DR.DRE mp3's on the other hand just sort of "bounce" up and down.

I am not really afraid of the effects of he lawsuit. I have gotten a boycott oging around southeast michigan, for the most part. I have emailed close to 75 people, and most agreed to spread the word. I have even gotten some local bands the info and they are posting it also. I'm almosty famous =]

Im glad you are fearless ytay, wanna be my lawyer when the time comes? Didn't think so. Hey we all have a choice, I am taking the cautious approach because frankly mp3's are not worth getting into serious trouble. Fact is, most of us (whether we admit it or not) are downloading these illegaly. If they are trying to use scare tactics, it is working with me for now, at least until I see how it all pans out. If we have nothing to worry about, then Napster will still be there when this is all said and done and we can all go back to dl'ing to our hearts content, without missing a beat.
