The question is;

How much are you willing to pay for?
Check the Consumer Report--they have an excellent review on cd recorders and rewritable. They reviewed Yamaha, Plextor, Hp, Philips, Panasonic and a few more. Personally I owned two cdrecorders (Hp 7200i and Mitusmi) both are Ide. Whatever is your choice, make sure it includes the Easy Creator from Adaptec. It is the best value.

May 99 "Maximum PC" mag rates the Plextor PlexWriter 8/20 a 10. It's a CD-R. This is SCSI interface, and comes with the controller card and some of the best software around.
They also rate the HP CD-Writer Plus 8100i a 9. This is EIDE interface. It's a CD-RW. These are the only two I would consider.
No other SCSI type rated above 7.
