Hello,

Sorry to bother you guy again.

At work, I have an HP SCANJET 6300C USB SCANNER. It is currently hook up to one computer, then unplug and plug it to another computer w/an USB port if need arise. Is there a better, more elegant way of doing this without a lot of investment?

I am thinking either a sort of an USB hub or install it on a server then share it like sharing a printer. Am I on the right path here? What my options are if the server doesn't have an USB port.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

FYI, we use Novel Netware 5.0 for the server and Win 98 as OS.

IM sure you could possibly network it, but youll sill have to get up to place whatever it is you wanna scan on it and then walk back to the computer to scan it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
it might just be better to set up a seperate small computer to handle just the scanner and set up the folder as shared on the network for people to grab the files. It just seems inconvenient to me to use a scanner when its not right "there."

Truthfully I have never seen or heard of a scanner being controlled over the network..It's my understanding that you have to have a "host computer" physically attached to the scanner as the "twain" drivers do not allow networking. I too would suggest using a "shared folder" into which you place your scanned items into. and when ever you need to scan go to that machine.
