I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good server to build to be a server for sharing a cable modem for 5 other comps and to run as server for network games. I currently have a p2 266 with 128 mb ram and a AMD K6-2 400 w/ 64mb ram. I was thinking around the lines of 500 to 550 with 256mb ram for decent pings.Or do you think the k6-2 400 can do it well with some more RAM? Any suggestions?

Well if all it's doing is hosting Internet connection and light file/print serving then even a p100 will do the job..for hosting LAN games I would personally suggest either a p2 300 or AMD k6-2 350 as they will keep up with the load fairly well. also with the low prices on 10/100 nic cards and hubs I would suggest going that route.
