Im trying to set up my dads computer to run off our one cable modem connection on my computer....heres our setup:
cable modem to first internal NIC, second internal NIC to uplink port in hub,
hub to the usb NIC on my dads computer. I installed the internet sharing on my comp and installed the boot disk it made for me on my dads...aaaaaand..nothing. All nics and hub are linksys. Do I need some sort of program also? like proxy+ I heard? The one thing I notice is that the second internal NIC to the hub shows no connection (no lights flashin on nic or the hub.....whats wrong?
THANK YOU! i have been trying for a week to set this up....all parts work fine on there own.

Sorry no one answered sooner. Most likley promlem was that you connected your computer to the uplink port. That is only to be used to connect hub to another hub since it crosses over the connection. Glad you got it working.

Sheeze.....What you only want to give us 27 minutes to give you a solution? Some of us were still at work and unable to visit the board at the time you posted both your question and your reply...Then you didnt even say what fixed the problem. But when reading your reply you must have changed many things around and that is why you have no idea of what fixed it....I agree you might have been in a uplink port, didnt have a cable fully seated, USB was not fully recognized, the list can go on and on...

I didnt mean to sound ungrateful, Its just that I have been trying for a 3 weeks to get this thing set up...mostly I was just frustrated with the lack of technical support from the cable modem company, not form you guys....but yeah, among other things, the big problem was plugging into the uplink port. but it also had to do with settings beyond my control, example, the cable company had set it configured at the center where I coudlnt share a connection. anyways..it works....I am sorry If I sounds upset, I dont want to be the next Chad174 /forum/wink.gif
