I didn't know it stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. Apparently, that's from the lab book of the chemist who developed it back in 1953.

What a shocker, I would think it would have something to do with being a lubricant. That's what I use it for... that and cleaning the grease off my hands (works really well!).

I thought it was primarily used as a flame thrower! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif (don't try that unless you enjoy having an ER pick shrapnel out of your head as a potential side effect http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif )

Works better than ether for starting a stubborn engine! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Just don't get it on riflescopes.

I remember trying that flame thrower thing with a WD-40 can when I was about 14. Works pretty well, but when I did it, the flame went backstream all the way to the tip. Sure did scare the #^(% out of me. :O

Disclaimer: Do NOT do the following. It is dangerous and could kill you.

Ok now that that's out of the way, try this out, it's harmless. There is a dry hand wash that's like a clear gel you use to wash your hands but you don't need water and it dries on its own. Well it's 62% alcohol so I smeared it over the bottom of my foot (propped it up) and lit it on fire. It was fun. Foot gets a little warm though after a while....

Ok now that we are talking about wacky, crazy, etc. stuff we've done....here goes:

My friend and I decided it would be fun to shoot one of those C02 cartridges (goes in air and paintball guns). We put it up at fifty yards away and shot it with .22 caliber rifle. WHOOOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!! The gas escapes out of the hole that the bullet created and comes BACK towards us like a rocket.

We freaked.

Lucky for us it *only* went 45 yards or so back towards us.

This one's gonna get locked soon... oh well, anyway, another fun thing to do with pressurized bottles: Take a 2 liter bottle of soda that hasn't been opened, shake it up, then throw it as far in the air as you can. My friend and I did this with a bottle of soda that was sitting on a porch for weeks, and the cap blew off, and it shot up in the air http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif.

I have also used it on lawnmower engines, to spray and wipe off guns, tools, before storeing them, ect. but, it is highly flameable to use on electric parts.

but, the best use is from the movie road warrior. where the guy keep shooting it up his nose. now that a real dude. he he.

and we won't even go into shooting or blowing things up. he he ha ha. but, **** it was fun. I just wish I could share some of them with you all.

and besides you never know who is reading these posts.
