Lucky me. Some guy pretending to be a network information guy went to my boss and "installed" a network. Turns out the guy went into my boss' computer, stole inventory sheets and contact information, and rendered the computer useless. Long story short, it's my job as a computer resources guy to fix it. I cleared the BIOS, and reformatted the hard drive (just in case anything was on there that shouldn't have been), but now I can't find the driver for the sound card (asound 3D-PNP). Where do you find the hard-to-find drivers? This really gets me, that someone would have the nerve to do something like that.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for.
Good luck!!

Whoa. That is pretty bold. I've dealt with "consultants" that were completely inept, but never we they just downright con-artists.
Here's some sites for finding drivers:
http://www.drivershq.com/mainhome.html
http://www.driverzone.com/
http://webhome.idirect.com/~cati/
http://www.mrdriver.com/
http://www.driverguide.com/
also, I advise you shoot your boss. It's the kindest thing to do in this instance. Whether (s)he was suckered or (more realistically) f***ed up the PC themselves and is too embarrassed to tell you is irrelevant. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
also try www.windrivers.com (http://www.windrivers.com)
good luck!

Cool, thanks for the sites http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif As for what happened, I'm not sure. Some guy did in fact work on the network, and he was paid $150 for it (even though the network wasn't working when he was done). So he might have gotten away with being paid to steal information. Then again, I did build that computer, and I did notice that a zip drive magically installed itself (improperly) in the time since it left my apartment... Oh well, whatever, no sense worrying about it. It's a really cool job, and my boss and supervisor are cool (even if they don't know $#!+ about computers).
