networking windows NT and windows 95

I have connected a win95 and a winNT computer via 10BaseT with a LinkSyS hub. On the NT computer I also have Win98 (dual boot). When the computers are networked in win98 and win95 they work perfectly, with file sharing and all that. But when I boot my machine to windows NT and the other had win95 running, The win95 computer cannot access my computer, it can see it in network neighborhood but cannot access it. I can access the win95 computer just fine, take files, play mp3's etc... I shared my hard drives and CD-R so that 'everyone' can use it. But when I try to access it through the win95 computer it asks for a password I never set! I don't know what to do. Also, I tried running this network on only TCP/IP but it wouldnt work, I had to add NETBEUI along with TCP/IP for NT to be able to network with win95. Is this a win95 thing? or am i not doing something right? And how can i fix the problem with the password prompt, where i never set a password???

I've been strugglin with a similar situation only my client system is using Win98 instead of Win95. At any rate I dont recall how I got around this but I think it was in the Computer Management area under Users. I set everything to full access for now and set a new password. I have to chuckle a bit after reading your part about the password you never set - that happened to me aswell and I remember saying to myself... " password? what password? I didnt set a password!" Have you installed Microsoft Client Services? I see that you are using TCp/Ip and Netbeui. If you have a small network, TCP?IP will take a lot of network overhead. Make sure that you have clearly defined the subnet mask, default mask and right nic addresses for both computers. The network cards should have the same network frame either 802.3 or 802.2

What you are running into is nt's security featrures.
Not just anyone can log onto an nt machine. if you want to grant access to a user (or another machine) you have to set up a user account on the nt machine. it will ask you about access level and stuff like that. that is why you can get to the 95 machine from nt but not vice versa.

well. u have to give user account for win95 com. go to user manager for domain in windows NT and give proper user name and password for win95 or win98
