Fatal OE with Etherlink III card

I just installed an old 3Com 3509BTP card in my win98 system. Now when I reach the log on prompt i get a blue screen that reads "Fatal OE...". Does anyone know what might cause this?

At a guess i think your network card is using a memory adress in conventional or upper memory thet it shouldnt be.It has to be changed but im not an an old Dos ser and could advise anymore

Perhaps im wrong, just a thought.
