2 computer network

I want to set a up two computer network with a desktop pc and a laptop and i just want to know if it can be done, what i may need cause i don't know where to put the network card in the laptop.

The easyest way is a PCMCIA (PC Card) Network adaptor. Look in you notebooks manual to if it has PCMCIA slots. If not, your last hope is a parralell port network adapter that plugs on your notebooks paralell port.

I was reading about this wireless network kit which is perfect since i could then move the laptop around the room. But does anybody have any information on wireless network kits, are they better then cable or any problems or limitations. The wireless network kit i was looking at is the WebGEAR:

The wireless solution would work, and be convenient for you for mobilities sake, however, you will sacrifice significant speed. I am not familiar with the webgear product but we can assume at best, it offers 2 meg transfer rates. The Diamond product has 1 meg and until recently even the newest wireless cards claimed only 3 meg transfers. (Even that was a bogus claim by RadioLan). The company I work for recently began offering a 11 meg wireless card from a company called Aironet, but this would not be practical for you, as it costs over 500 bucks per card. As far as the cheap, 2.4 Ghz home use wireless cards, they can be a good choice if speed is not an issue. 1 or 2 meg would be plenty fast for a 2 node lan for games and internet sharing, but if you need speed for a lot of file transfers and stuff like that you would be better off with a 10baseT wired lan.

if windows 95 exists on both the desktop and the laptop than why not use direct cable that comes with win95 you only need a serial or parallel port, you are limit to the speed of each port, but it is cheap
