If someone gets hold of your IP Number could they use it to access sites that could be traced back to you?

Yes and no ????
Each NIC has it's own address and every ISP Assigned Dial in connection is unique for that session. Conceivably someone could spoof your address while your'e on-line....

Well if you are dialup (AOL, Earthlink, etc) then your IP address is assigned dynamically (DHCP)so your IP can change almost everytime you dialup. If you have a static ip (cable modems, dsl) those ips are still dynamically assigned (just with a longer lease period) and you would know if someone somehow got your ip working for them (when an ip is in use no one else could use it).
