If so, here's a couple that should get you going if you haven't seen them before http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://808hi.com/56k/r-rnut-x2-3.htm http://www.56k.com/ Gene C. 05-01-2000, 10:07 PM you didn't say what kinda modem you were looking for. but, this might help you. if not please post here and I get you some more. the last one has more info: http://www.shiva.com/prod/ccl/ http://www.lothlorien.net/collections/computer/modem.html http://www.scn.org/help/modem.html http://www.modems.com/general/extendat.html x35Agent 05-02-2000, 04:44 AM I have heard of modem commands before but how would I go about useing them. Also what is the purpose of useing modem commands. What all can you do with them? Banti 05-02-2000, 08:30 AM With commands you can set volume and other settings within the modem. You can also test for dailtone, call a number, hang up. Set the connect speed, Query the firmware. All sorts of things. Basically every piece of info that Windows displaces about your modem is retrieved through the AT commands. Banti tonym 05-02-2000, 07:34 PM Oh children, let me tell you of a storybook time when the only way that you could communicate twixt PC's was with those "Magic" Modem AT commands. I suggest very strongly that you get the commands from one of the sites recommended and try to manipulate your modem using Telnet in Windows, or even better revert to the DOS command line and have at it!!! Ah those halcyon days when my hair was a lot less grey streaked... Tony x35Agent 05-03-2000, 02:29 AM I have been to all these sites and they are good. I now know the commands to talk to my modem but I have not found out how to start the whole process. Can someone clue me in to how I go about using Telnet or Hyperterminal. What do I need to do to get the whole process started. If you don't want to post you can email me. My address is in my profile. Banti 05-03-2000, 06:24 AM Not familiar with hyper terminal. I used to use the regular terminal in win 3.11... Select the option (I believe there is one) to allow for keyboard input. Reset your modem... AT or ATH (should respond with okay) Enter any init strings you want... Check modem manual Dial up and enjoy.... ATD(+ phone number for pulse) ATDT(+ phone number for dialtones) Hangup ATH Banti x35Agent 05-03-2000, 08:46 AM Well I think I have a few things figured out. I managed to turn my speaker volume off something I could not do through windows. Now I have a new idea. I noticed in the terminal options that there was one for TTY. Well my mother is deaf so I now have a new project. She will be so thrilled if I manage to call her using my computer. SysOpt.com
