I will be upgrading my computer soon and it looks like I will need a new motherboard in order to use the processor and video card I am looking for.

My question is this:

As this is my first time upgrading a computer should I take on replacing the entire motherboard and re-connecting all my hardware to it or should I purchase a combo and install my hardware in it?

Thanks!

G

I'm not real clear what you are trying to say. What I would do if upgrading is to buy a motherboard/cpu combo (saves money). If your old case doesn't support atx, i would suggest buying a new case/powersupply too.
You can get the prices for those things here at pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com)

If you are talking about a barebones system, one that has the mobo, CPU, HSF and all you add is HD, video, etc then it depends on what you have now.
If you have a 300W ATX case, you can get by with just the Mobo, CPU, HSF as your floppy, CD and other cards, keyboard and mouse should all work fine.

If you have an AT case/PSU with the old style keyboard connector, you are better off spending a few dollars more and avoiding any hassles.
