this is why I have and never will join in any of those chat rooms out there. I may use icq sometimes to talk to "close friends" out of state. but, that the linit for me.

I know kids will be kids. and some are going to do what they want to nowdays. and parents can't be there 24 hrs. a day. but, these people need to be stoped. somehow:

For such people, I think the chair is apropriate.

The Internet is a way to access the outside world.
Many parents don't understand this basic concept. You wouldn't allow young children to walk unaccompanied around London, NY, Rio, wherever, but that's what happens when kids get to roam the WWW in it's entirety.
It has brothels, casinos, peep shows and con artists right next door to kindergartens, libraries, grocery stores and puppy pictures.
No parent in their right mind would let a kid ring someone at random in the phone book, but that's essentially what happens when you get onto WWW chat... Of course is can be safe, fun and educational, but people should be educated of the risks.

A friends ex-wife met someone in a chat room and moved to Texas to be with this guy ! A couple days latter a couple of goons came in and beat the ***** out of him and said the others would get hurt if he did not come up with the money he owed them for gambling debts. This dumb ***** women brought her children with her when she did this.


Whenever a child is on the internet the should be monitored the whole time, Period!

This brings back mems of last year when my Daughter entered an X directory phone number in a chat room sign up, and we started getting Phone calls, ended up putting answer machine on with the message that all incomeing calls were being auto traced and monitor by Police, ( this followed advice from members of this BB, It worked the cops never did have to look any futher after one more call arrived and the dialer hung up after message.
