Hi, I'm going to buy an Asus A7V133-C mobo, on many reviews I have read this mobo is the most stable. But I don't like the onboard audio, and too bad that the onboard RAID only support raid 0.

Can anybody help me find a mobo with this specification to compare with it:
- any socket A mobo
- any chipset or via KT133A or AMD761
- onboard RAID (raid 0, 1, 0+1/1+0)
- no onboard audio
- no onboard video
- no ISA socket
- at least 5 PCI

And what do you think with the Iwill KK266, is it better than A7V133-C ?
Thanks

Well, I will vote for the 'new' Iwill KK266-R if you want raid. It has great onboard sound, but also has some of the items you have listed you do not want...so, guess the choice there is up to you.

It does have onboard audio.

It does not have onboard video.

It does have one ISA socket.

It has 6 PCI sockets.

You can go here to read much about the Iwill series mainboards. (http://www.amdmb.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?s=186d45663184fb6f80bec608a5bffbe b&forumid=19)

You can go here to read the FAQs (http://www.x-faqtor.com/)

Also, there is a lot of user support for the Iwill boards, which sure helps when you hit a brick wall.

If you are looking for RAID controller Onboard that will do "onboard RAID (raid 0, 1, 0+1/1+0)" Then I believe the Highpoint Onboard RAID is the Only one that will. Promise and AMI's onboard RAID controllers will only do RAID 0 or Mirror.

Many thanks to all of U guys...

Bovon, KK266-R seems to have many bugs in the BIOS (updated all the time), is the KT133A chipset full of bugs??

camaro - Rhino302, Do you use this mobo (8K7A+)? sounds great and full of features, I think I like it more than A7V133-C

Yeah I use it. I don't use the RAID right now though. I've never used the onboard audio on it, but it probably sucks because its AC97. The only thing you have to worry about is the power supply. I guess this board doesnt like Enermax units; it drains the +5 V pretty bad. It uses DDR as well.

wow... fast reply http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif thanks Rhino302.

BTW what's Enermax, PS unit? Write your complete hardware & OS spesification please...

I've seen the latest reviews for the VIA266a chipsets - looking V impressive - beating the SiS, KT133a, AMD761, etc... just wondering if there are any recommended motherboards out there with onboard HPT370 controllers?

Another question: does this chipset support std SDRAM or will I have to buy DDR?

I've seen those reviews also, but by the time those boards are out you'll have even more chipsets. This will never end. Some boards let you use both DDR and SDRAM.

BTW I have a 1.2TBird. How did I forget that.
