I am very interested in trying this board, but have two q?'s.

First, will it run my 100 fsb rev"b" 750 thunderbird at 133?133? This particular chipset will clock to 1030 without hitch on my A7V, I run it at a gig for a margin. I've sold the A7V w a duron on it, kept the good 750, and wwant to reuse it for my teenagers new rig (she just got into mp3's and is tired of her now-too-=slow k-62).

Secondly, does this mobo take advantage of the palomino prefetching architecture? Because if it won't run the 100 mhz t-bird at 133, I will snag a 1 gig mp 'bird rev "d".

Thanx in advance, this is first post over here; hang out at sharky's and the zone, but found alot of good stuff here tonight.

Once again folks, the chipset doesn't care about the CPU architecture, performance enhancements, or even the instruction set. As long as the processor is electrically compatible with the given bus standard, it'll be served.

Palomino support is an issue of BIOS enabling the extra features, no more no less. The ECS BIOS has that already.

Regarding the overclocking, well who knows? It's a matter of your particular unit, and the only one to find out is you.

Do yourself a favor and leave this board alone. Myself and alot of other people have had problems with the ECS K7S5A. If you want a top of the line DDR board, try the ABIT KG7/KG7-R, Epox 8K7A/8K7A+, or maybe even Gigabyte, but for now, leave the ECS board alone. They have alot of serious issues with this board. SOme of which cannot be solve with a BIOS upgrade.

It's funny, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. People either love it or hate it. I personally think mine is great. Fast, stable, cheap. I've only had two caveats: the power LED on the front of my case has a three prong plug and the board has a two prong outlet, and for some reason it flashes.
