Hi,

I've been fighting this configuration ahhhhh time flies doens't it. Well I have a Sound Blaster Live PCI card that I would like to use instead of the onboard audio codec.

I have tried to disable the chip in the BIOS as well as the legacy options in the Integrated Peripherals area.

Problem I seem to have is once the software for the SBLive is installed the system will hang. Sometimes not at first you can do a little then it will hang.

Frustrating...any ideas, sugestions, web site locations that might help would be great. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

BTW running BIOS v3.2e

Thx..

VIA's 686 south bridge and SB!Live don't play well together. See the various web publications on that.

Peter,

Thx for the info...I found information on VIA's website. Tried the PCI patch with no luck system still hangs. Looks like I'll get another sound card.

Thx for your info I was in the state of (bang's head against monitor) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Just a follow up...

I had jp7 short'ed and jp4 set to use AMR slot codec.

I install the latest patch from VIA v 4.32 and still had no luck. The jumpers I had changed originally to see if it would help before I started to look on the web.

Well I decided to play with the jumpers again, I took the jumper off jp4 and set jp7 to use onBoard codec.

Install SB!Live and still had the system hang after a bit. Now I did see a post on the forum on viahardware.com someone had suggested disabling PCI Master Pipeline Req.

Once I changed this in the BIOS and rebooted the SB!live card has worked (fingers crossed) for now anyway.

I hope this helps if someone is having the same issues.
