Has anybody had any luck getting a response from ECS tech support? I emailed them 4 days ago regarding a problem installing the audio codec on my K7S5A and still no response. Great board..just bugs me I can't get the sound working.

I have a problem with my sound also.
When I try too install it a message pops up
saying sndsys.inf copy failed or something
like that.
I also e-mailed ecs a week ago and no answer
yet.

Sparky36,
That's exactly what I've run into as well...I've tried the audio codec on the installation disk as well as a downloaded one and still get the same error message. Maybe somebody out there has figured it out and will post a solution...cause I fear we won't ever hear from ECS!!

I got my sound to work this morning.
Instead of using the setup from the driver
I used the "found new hardware" setup from windows.
I used the drivers in the win95 folder and atleast I got sound. I tried the others but no luck, just win95.
I have the original windows 98 with all the
updates installed but the driver for win98se did not work.
Now if I only can get my Vortex2 SQ2500 to work on this board I will shut the onboard off. Which is better the onboard or the SQ2500?

I thought ECS is really PCChips in disguise. You can forget about support from PCChips. They just sell the mobo and if it doesn't work... your SOL. Try to get some support from the company that sold you the mobo.

Not quite - it's the same company, but PC-Chips does OEM business (i.e. zero end user support) while the ECS outlet does have some end user focus, mostly through local representative. Before going to ECS Taiwan with your inquiry, try your nearest local contact.

Heyal,

I wanted to know if they sold direct and which I know is different topic but I just called the ECS company directly. They were out to lunch when called and didn't want to wait to long so just called back, they were happy to help and answer my questions.

The Usa office I called in Freemont, CA
1-510-226-7333

Hope that helps some,
SB
