I am about to build a game machine for a friend. The two companies I like are ASUS and Gigabyte. I will be using a AMD procc.
Can anyone suggest the best board to use.

John Prophet 07-27-2001, 02:06 AM The "new" Asus A7V266 seems to be the one for your needs. http://hardocp.com/reviews/mainboards/asus/a7v266/ DDR Very fast and Stable Highly Overclockable AGP pro/4x super tweakable BIOS Room for large heatsink/cooler Only downside is that the "Backwards PCI"-AMR slot is ugly in a non symmetrical way. BobyJo 07-27-2001, 06:12 AM I would recommend the Epox line of "new boards" 8KTA3,8K7A,8KHA, these are the top of the line in OC'ine, stability, and price. Not just my opinion, read the reviews and you can see for yourself. One other new board is A7V266 by ASUS Comage 07-27-2001, 09:16 AM Please do take note that the hardware monitoring (voltage and temperature readings) of Asus boards are sometimes very inaccurate and not worth trusting at all. Wombat 07-28-2001, 01:21 PM Hey all, just checked out prices and I think I'll get the ASUS A7V w/o audio and video. Thanks for all your advice http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif pbjunkster 08-28-2001, 08:14 PM Hey, Where did you buy the A7V266? I have one on back order and am getting sick of waiting.
