Having a problem trying to flash the bios update...maybe somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong. After booting into pure DOS, I run the flash utility (downloaded off the ECS website)and enter the new update...I then get an error message 5..."Bios file not of proper size". My board has the built in LAN so it should be the right update. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey shift, I'd like to get my board updated too. I think I know how to do it, but not sure. Tell me if this is right.

1. I can boot to windows and then restart in dos.

2. Once in dos, I can run the bios flash executable (ami818.exe I think....) and it will just automatically use the bios update blah, blah, blah.rom (whatever it is, too lazy to check now).

Then it does it's thing and that's it?

newbie~wan,
Here's how I do it...set bios to boot from the floppy...once you get the A:/ prompt...type Dir and that will show all of the files on the floppy. I used the new flash utility...aminf326...type in the following...aminf326.exe (new bios file here...0108xx.rom) then hit enter and it will update it automatically.I can't remember the new bios file right now, but make sure you use that one. The updated flash utility came from the ECS website...good luck

It didnt work!!!!!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Here's what happened:

I run aminf326.exe, the stuff copyright/date stuff comes up. Then,
1. chipset type - sis 735
2. flash part sst 39vf020
3. Error 2 - File does not exist

That's all it says. No message about what file does not exist. Do these messages look familiar to anyone? Please help.

Hi Newbie...we'll get ya thru this...on the A:/prompt type on the same line....
aminf326.exe 010806.rom (exactly as you see it..assuming you're using the 010806 bios update) then hit enter...that should work for ya!!

Really?

We'll it appears ECS has F*CKED UP YET AGAIN!

The reason I was only typing in the executable was because the directions on the ecs website for flashing said to do just that and that a crude GUI would come up that would prompt for the flash file itself.

Proves once again that we cant rely on ECS.

Thanks for the help shifty

EDIT:

One question for everyone,
Is anyone dual booting win/linux on this board. I have win taking up first 1/2 HDD now and am loading linux on other 1/2.

I got a message warning me that my linux boot partition is above 1024th cylinder. Will it boot? Workarounds?
