OK, I know there are a lot of silly ?'s and my is definitely one of them, so here it goes:
I have to really old PC’s. One is an P1 100mhz AT and the other is a 486 ATX. I want to replace the mobo with a mobo/cpu combo and some ram. I only want to go with a 450mhz of so. My silly question is how do I find out what mobo I need to replace it with? Oh, and what you recommend?

You will need an AT type of motherboard to work in those old cases...unless you are pretty good with metal working and can modify the case for an ATX.

I use an FIC VA 503+ motherboard, and it is an AT type, and has a fsb up to 124 mhz I believe, and supports up to a K6-2 550.

There are a lot of folks that seem to not like the 503+ board, but I have had very good results with it, but I am not into overclocking big time either.

I recently put together a Tyan S1598 ATX system using a K6-2 450, and I really liked that system...I believe it was a tad faster than mine, but that was probably just my first thoughts.

There may be other AT style mainboards that support the Super Socket 7 cpu's, but I am not familiar with them.

I was bored last night so I removed both of my old mobo’s. Here’s what they say:
486
Soyo, 025N2, 767169, HT BV-0 9451, MB-300E Green 9451
Dimensions 9 7/8 x 8 5/8
P1 100mhz
Socket 7
s/n C00435193, PBA 646254-800, AA CA 646258-001
M1 94V-0 3095, PB 632289-008
Dimensions 13 x 8 5/8
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ANY OF THAT MEANS… Man, talk about a bummer…
Can you guys help me figure out what I have? And tell me how you figure it out.
BOVON suggested a FIC VA 503+ but for which board? These are obviously different (that much I did figure out on my own http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif)
THANKS GUYS/GALS

Edwelly:

Take a look here (http://www.bizrate.com/marketplace/search/search.xpml?cat_id=419&atr_manufacturer=259-43610&rf=lkschwxxxf71&ir=82) for Soyo mtherboards. Run a search on a good search engine like www.dogpile.com (http://www.dogpile.com) to find more Soyo sites.

Good luck.

Looks like you've got 2 Baby AT (BAT) boards.
That Amptron 755LMR is a Baby AT and should fit. I did this once, changed out a 486 with a SS7 Baby AT board, just had to move 1 standoff.BTW, the AT form factor is 12"W x 13"L and the Baby AT form is 8.5"W x 13"L, though the length varies. The Amptron 755LMR is 22cm x 22cm or approx. 8.69" x 8.69" which is a common size. Look at the mounting holes in the pic on Amptrons site and compare to your standoffs in your cases. They should be the same. Beware! Be sure you connect your AT power supply up correctly. BTW, others can correct me if I'm wrong but you should go with a ATX power supply if you elect the P3 cpu.
