Have you looked at Abit's line of motherboards that have raid support? Like the Kt7a raid.

The Abit KT7A-Raid is a good board, I also have an ASUS A7V133-Raid and it is great. These both have the same VIA KT133A chipset and no DDR memory slots.

If your are not really hot to use DDR the ABIT KT7A-Raid seems to be a fine board.
I have had mine since Jan.
1.2 Gig. AMD
786 Meg. Ram
Copper Heatsink & Fan
Not one problem to date.

I just ordered a Gigayte GA-7DXR board it has Promise ATA-100 Raid on board, Dual Bios and a bunch of other stuff I don't understand either. It is a "Socket A" board for an AMD processor, I did not look at their P4 boards. I bought it for reliable performance, hope it works out.

No one seems to be mentioning the SoundBlaster Live! problem with Via's Southbrigde chipset (the 686b). My KT7A-Raid locks-up on large file Xfers because the HighPoint controller (using the 686b) and SBLive conflict. Only solution I found was to run without the soundcard. I didn't have the problem on the KT7-R. From reading the forums, it looks like a lot of people have this problem. Hey, if anyone knows a solution it would be great to play Quake with sound again!

Grit, I thought they fixed that.

They did fix the problem.

I haven't had a problem with my KT7 Raid board using the Blaster Live X-Gamer 5.1 card.
