I just built my first system, (specs below) and When I boot up to first screen it show's 900MHz AMD processor, I have a 1200MH. I went into Softmenu III, Changed the (CPU OPERATING SPEED) to user define, Set multiplier factor to x9, Set CPU FSB/PCI Clock to 133/133MHz, saved settings to CMOS, exited and nothing happened, black screen, reset CMOS, tried again, same thing. is there a jumper on the board I need to change or some other settings I need to change ? . I'm somewhat a newbie to this so any help is appreciated. Here's what I put together.

ABIT KT7A-RAID VIA KT133 Chipset

Set CPU FSB/PCI Clock to 133/133MHz

I'm sure you mean 133/33.
Donno, KT7A doesn't have any jumper for changing FSB, when I was using unlocked 750 MHz T-Bird, I was able to change both FSB and multiplier via SoftMenu III.
Are you sure you got AthlonC (266 MHz FSB) and not AthlonB (200 MHz FSB) ? Try putting it on 100 MHz FSB and 12x multiplier, otherwise, try replacing the chip, maybe you got some defective one (it seems like it has 9x multiplier locked).

Best Regards ...

I have the same board and cpu
I set mine to

FSB/PCI 133/33

Multiplier of X9

Which equals 1197 but will register as 1200

Try it you'll like it!!

If you're still having problems, pull all the cards but video and try it. When you get that working, then install the other cards one-at-a-time. Don't use PCI slot1 when you have an AGP card. In my box, the sound card is in 2, NIC in 4, and SCSI for scanner in 6 and it runs solid. Also be sure you are using 4.32 of the VIA drivers.

i am using the asus a7v133. how do i get the new drivers and how do i install them?

i hope this question i am about to ask is in the right forum.

when i cut my computer on when it gets to the page where you see the information about the hard drive being master or slave,cd rom, how much memory and whether or not it is 100 or 133, it hangs there for awhile.

isn't there somewhere in the bios where i can shorten this hang time?

i hope i gave enough information to let someone know where the hangup is. i didn't want to shut my system down to get the exact name.
