I know that on Vid cards the heatsink is often attached with a thermal glue. What is it and where is an easy place to get it. I got an oversize heatsink/fan to put on and I can't fit it in any other way.Any help appreciated

Hellmund,

Polycast has thermal epoxies. Check out:
http://www.thomasregister.com/olc/polycast/

the Polycasts require a high temperature cure to set (100-300C).

Also Bergquist has some pressure-sensitive thermal compounds for heatsink attachment:
http://www.bergquistcompany.com/therm.htm

Check out the "CPU Pad" or the "Bond Ply 100" products. These are just press and apply! They're not as strong as the temperature cured materials, but they'll probably do for your application.

Ablestik also makes high-performance epoxies, but these need to be cured at a high temperature ~100C:
http://www.ablestik.com/assembly.html

Finally, AAVID also has a phase-change material that cures at a lower temperature (60C):
http://www.aavid.com/datashts/ultra/ultrastick.html

There are lots of others out there, but I think you'll find what you need from one of these vendors!

Will thermal paste/grease actually hold the heatsink on.It'll be upside down so it'll need to be held on and there isn't any easy way to strap it on.The chip on the M64 is small and I was planning to put a sock370 heatsink/fan on it.I know it can run stable at 160/145 which is quite a bit higher than 100/110 so I need something big.I was looking for the name of the thermal glue 3DFX use on their cards that needs to be cooled to take off as it gets stronger as it gets hotter.
