Look at this link...what do you think as it says manufacturer. I find it hard to believe but I want to hear what you think. http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/product.asp?dept_id=&pid=1703&sid=9169HW2326S92HAB080205RWQLSVA570

Yeh it can't be right unless it is just the 566 that is getting discontinued which I very much doubt. I reckon they are buying time untill they can get more in stock from Intel.

I don't think so. They've already announced Cel 600, so the product line continues. Besides, they aren't crazy to leave lower end systems market to AMD. Advanced Design (http://www.advanceddesignky.com/cpu.cfm) seems to have 566s, as does PCNut (http://www.pcnut.com/parts/cpu.htm).

i think intel has plans for a new socket 423 or 603,name foster or willamette.and a new slot m,i am not sure of all will shake down.i picked this up at motherboards.org.cpu sockets&slots
Sounds to me like they have stopped making 566, going on to bigger & faster units I guess.

Don't believe everything you read. This is probably a data entry problem at the web vendor...they can't get the product from Intel so it's "discontinued".
Until Intel announces the demise of the Cel 566, then don't count it out!!
