Couple of questions....
1. I ordered the KT7-E and a 1.33GHz/266 FSB AXIA T-bird....Will the mobo handle the cpu?
2. Will I have problems trying to overclock on this "built for the 200 FSB Athlon"??

System:
128 MB PC-100 True Micron DIMM X 2
40X NEC SCSI CDROM
4X Panasonic CD-R
2Gig Jazz Drvie
Adaptec 2940UW SCSI controller
9 Gig IBM SCSI HDD
13 Gig Quantum ATA 66
30 Gig Quantum ATA 66
Diamond Viper 32MB TNT2 Ultra AGP
D-Link 10/100 Ethernet
Soundblaster live

3. Why did ABIT create this board? Arent they shooting themselves in the foot for making a cheaper version of the KT7A? Is the only real difference between these boards the color of the board and the official support of PC-133 DIMMS for the KT7A???
4. Should I just go ahead and order the KT7A instead? OR should I just dump it for the Epox 8K7A????

Thanks for any input

1. NO ! KT7E doesn't support 266 MHz FSB processors.
2. No, at least not something unusual, but you still can't run 266 Mhz FSB CPU on this one (see paragraph 1).
3. Don't know, some marketing strategy, probably.
4. Yes, go for KT7A/RAID, excellent board (have one http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif ).

Best Regards ...

You might want to check this out (http://www.hardocp.com/reviews/mainboards/abit/kt7e/) . According to HardOCP, you can get 137Mhz out of the KT7E as the tops, and it's extremely stable at 133Mhz.

The KT133E, while it does not officially support 133MHz will sure as hell do 133/266 FSB, but that is close to tops for it. I have had two of these boards in my hands and both would run a solid 137/274 FSB but not much more and be stable.

I called the reseller and he said it would be best for me to go with the KT7-E because it will run the 266 FSB. Thats all I want. This system is for my kid sister, but I use it as well. My P3 laptop is slow so I use her desktop. Thanks for thew advise, I am waiting for the KT7-E.......

You will ave no probs running a 266 Tbird on that board. Many are doing so already. VIAHardware had their's running at 147MHz FSB. Check it out:
