There is no difference between www.domain.net (http://www.domain.net) and domain.net. domain.net is the domain name. www is placed in front of it to signify that it is a web server. When you register a domain name, you do not register www.yourdomain.com, (http://www.yourdomain.com,) you simply register yourdomain.com.

Ok then, I registered a domain, www.ljjones.net (http://www.ljjones.net) and I can only go there by typing in http://www.ljjones.net . So, how can I get a domain which is just http://ljjones.net ? I accept your answer, but It doesnt tell me how I can obtain this type of address, not that I want to, I just want to know how it is done. Thanks, Jack

That is something your web host can configure - to enable the domain to be accessible without the www.

I know that you can register domains like http://www.domain.net, but how do you go about regestering something like http://domain.net, without the www part, and where can I do this? Thanks, Jack
