I know this is BORING to you all, but I know this is the place to ask. I also know that you all get these kinds of questions all the time, but I trust you all. I want to upgrade my AT style epox MVP3c2+k62-450 to something else. I got about 200 bucks to spend, (we can exceed that a little) and if I get a new mobo, I am gonna need a cpu and case. I think for now, I am fine with 31 gigs of hard drive, SBlive, 192 meg of pc133 dimm, and my aging but meeting my needs voodoo3 2000 PCI. The vid card will be next after this.

I do not need integrated video or sound (I do not like a mobo with those already on as they are usually pretty lame anyway) cept maybe network for my DSL (I have a PCI network card already so really do not even need that on the mobo)

I have read through the first 60 topics, and really did not see anyone answering a q like this

Features I am looking for

IDE w/udma 66 DMA 100 is not a feature I care about right now
support for maybe a gig more or less cpu freq
Would like to double my current CPU speed if at all possible
AGP
AMD CPU

Overclocking okay, but keep in mind that at first, I am gonna have the oversized fan I bought to overclock this 450 to 504

I am gonna be making this purchase by July 6th

Thanks!

except for the fact most of them have at least 1 on board thing..i would say have a look at tigerdirect..they have socket a motherboards with durons for about 150, + case should come in around 200...i can't comment on the quality though...good luck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Oh, I think I can do better, and I think I can do it for 200 bucks more or less. Since I posted that message, I see that I can do a case for about 20 bucks or so, and perhaps I can reach the 900 mark with a duron or athlon 800 or 850 overclocked to 900?

Its jsut that there are so many mobos that I have never heard of so I am not sure what I would be getting. Also, it's been a long time since I have searched the web to shop, and I thought I might get lucky and have a few people find places to check out that I did not find.

I will be visiting frys in dallas the week of the 4th, and I hope to have some idea by then just how close to the 200 mark I can make it

I would rather stick nails up my nose and snort a gallon of gas afterwards then get one of those tiger soyo motherboards http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
